While ordinary eye drops simply add moisture that can evaporate quickly from the surface of the eyes, Bausch & Lomb Soothe®XP Emollient (Lubricant) Eye Drops has an advanced formulation that includes the lipid restorative Restoryl®.
With this powerful ingredient, Soothe XP not only restores moisture, but also works to reestablish the inadequate lipid layer with every drop.
This is the formulation previously owned and marketed by Alimera Sciences.
Tear Film before treatment with Soothe XP
The tear film is nature’s way of providing your eyes with the protection to keep them moist, lubricated and comfortable. The tear film is composed of three layers: an oily “lipid layer,” a watery “aqueous layer,” and a complex protein or “mucin layer.”
The most common cause of dry eye symptoms is evaporation. This occurs when the lipid layer of the tear film is too thin, or breaks down, causing precious water to be lost from the eye’s surface. Therapies targeted at reestablishing or stabilizing the lipid layer are key to the treatment of dry eye* and would therefore be an ideal approach as a first line of defense.
Tear Film after treatment with Soothe XP
Soothe XP targets the key underlying cause of dry eye symptoms and works to restore the tear film as it soothes. A few blinks will activate the unique extra protection formula and seal in moisture to restore a healthy tear film, providing the dual benefit of:

- Tear replacement
Advanced Technology
When you apply Soothe XP, you may experience a slight blurring of your vision. This is temporary, and more importantly, part of how the technology works. The Soothe XP formula is designed to clear and begin working after just a few blinks.
The first thing you might notice about the Soothe XP technology is its unique appearance. Instead of a clear eye drop that offers temporary relief, the unique combination of oils in Soothe XP gives it a milky white appearance.
After a few blinks, it will be clear and activated in the eye.
